Yorkshire And Humber Popular Location For Coffee Shop Sales

A new report looking at the most popular types of businesses being sold around the UK has revealed that Yorkshire and Humber is where the greatest number of coffee shop, tearoom and cafe sales have taken place this year.

Bdaily reported on the data from Hilton Smythe, a business broker, which showed that 25 per cent of all such businesses sold in the UK were located in this region.

The West Midlands was the next most popular spot for sales of coffee shops, with 16 per cent of the transactions taking place in this area.

Group managing director at Hilton Smythe Gareth Smyth said that his firm has noted a “significant increase” in the number of people buying cafes, coffee shops and tearooms at the moment.

“These types of businesses tend to thrive even in times of recession, because people always like to treat themselves to a good cup of coffee and a slice of cake,” he stated.

Mr Smyth added that buying an established business can also make it a bit easier to get started, because you’ll already have a customer base and way of working to help you as you find your feet.

Once you’ve got to grips with your new business, you can assess things like the private label coffee you’re using and decide whether it’s time for a change or if you’d like to expand the types of brew you’re offering customers.

According to statistics from the British Coffee Association, 55 million cups of the beverage are consumed in the UK each day, so it’s little wonder that establishments offering the popular hot beverage are doing well.
