3 Cups Of Coffee A Day Could Help Beat Heart Disease!
New research coming out of the University of Sao Paulo has found that drinking three cups of coffee could help clear out your arteries and even help beat heart disease.
According to the Daily Telegraph, people who drink larger amounts of coffee have lower coronary artery calcium readings, which means they had less calcium deposits in their arteries and therefore better blood flow.
So if you are keen to protect your health, increasing the amount of coffee you drink could prove to be very beneficial indeed! That said, it’s worth noting that the researchers did say drinking more than three cups might actually be harmful so do keep count just in case.
Author of the study Andreia Miranda was quoted by the news source as saying: “Other studies have already shown that excessive consumption of this beverage may not bring health benefits. In our research, we found that habitual consumption of more than three cups a day of coffee decreased odds of coronary calcification.”
The Telegraph went on to note that while there are no hard and fast facts revealing why coffee is so very good for our hearts, some do believe that its antioxidant plant compounds could be responsible. Decaf coffee, for example, has similar impacts so it may not be the caffeine at all that is responsible for certain health benefits.
This comes after research from Hospital de Navarra in Spain found that those who regularly drink coffee have lower mortality rates than those who don’t. The scientists followed nearly 20,000 people over an average timeframe of ten years and it was found that mortality rates were almost two-thirds lower among regular coffee drinkers.
Similarly, further work was done by the International Agency for Research on Cancer and Imperial College London, finding that people who drink about three cups of coffee each day could live longer than those who never drink the good stuff. Higher levels of coffee consumption were linked to a reduced risk of death from all causes, but specifically digestive tract and circulatory conditions.
If you’re worried that you don’t want the caffeine hit but want to enjoy these health benefits, decaf drinks were also found to have similar benefits – although the scientists did wonder whether this was because of the decaf or because drinkers may also have been caffeinated coffee fans as well at some point during their lives.
While the majority of coffee aficionados enjoy their morning cuppa because of the taste, we’re living in increasingly health conscious times these days so lauding the health benefits of Java Joe might well help give you a profit boost as well if you run your own coffee shop. It certainly can’t hurt to point it out to your punters, in any case, so why don’t you give it a go and see if your revenue soars this year?
